It seemed like a lot longer than 29 months that Woods had been gone from the top spot in the World Golf Rankings. But Woods’ climb back to the top has been a slow and steady one. He has certainly made strides under swing coach Sean Foley, and with two-straight wins coming into the 2013 Masters, Woods is the big favorite to win a fifth Green Jacket. It’s been eight years since Woods last won the Masters, coming in 2005. And it’s been nearly five years since he has won a Major championship. Phil Mickelson has won the Masters three times in his career, in 2005, 2006, and 2010. Many golf fans likely remember that first win back in 2004, which was Mickelson’s first-career Major championship win, after coming so close many times.
Nine years later, Mickelson will return to Augusta next week for the playing of the 2013 Masters. He is certainly among the top favorites coming to a place he has a history of playing well. Lefty won earlier in the 2013 season at Phoenix, but has not been in contention much since. Continue reading

All the momentum created by Tiger Woods, who seemed to have turned his career around somewhere around February and March, and the Masters came in a hurry.
Just as quickly, he faded into the shadows at Augusta, making more noise from his tantrums than his game. And now we’re left wondering if he will ever get that fifth green jacket. Continue reading
