It’s almost that time of year again, when the Magnolias are in bloom, and the drive up the lane to famed Augusta National takes center stage in the golfing world.
The 2012 PGA Tour season has already gotten off to a great start this season, with both veterans and up-and-comers getting into the winner’s circle.
And while there is still roughly a month and a half up the 2012 Masters, we’re just going to take a brief look and see how things are shaping up.
The Masters is arguably the greatest golf championship in the world, and a tournament that is rich in history, tradition, and celebrating some of the greatest champions in sport.
It’s obviously the most-unique Major championship in golf, in that it is held at the same location every year in Augusta, Georgia.
And there is a spirit about Augusta National around the grounds that is special.
I know. I was fortunate enough to go there during Masters week several years ago.
But let’s get into the odds and talk about the favorites going into the 2012 Masters!
No surprise at the names at the top, highlighted by Tiger Woods.
But we’ll learn a lot more about Woods this week and next week as he plays in the Honda Classic and then at Doral next week as to the state of his game going into the first Major championship of the year.
Though the Masters seems to fit Tiger’s game even if he is rusty, as evidence by a fourth-place finish in 2010.
Woods is set at 11/2 to win his fifth Green Jacket on Masters Betting Odds available at Bovada sportsbook., but is not alone at the top of the odds to win.
Rory McIlrory is also up there with equal odds. And for those of you who do not remember, McIlroy blew a big lead in the Masters last year with a final round 80, after leading each of the first three days.
If you think it effected him negatively, think again. Because he turned around and dominated the U.S Open to cruise to a victory.
But you can bet McIlroy will remember last year, and try to tackle that challenge of the big disappointment of losing it in the final 18 holes.
The 2012 Masters will take place from April 5-8.
